The idea of running a tour company first came to me whilst I was sipping ginger tea at the Sun & Moon tea hut at a Buddhist Tantric Empowerment, the Kalachakra Initiation, in Bodhgaya.
I overheard a Tibetan man talking about a recent trip to the US where he had met Native Americans and found the rituals, life and legends to be the same as Tibet’s.
He spoke about the Native American’s old tale passed down from generation to generation of how the ancients had come to the land in boats from the East, after a great flood.
The man then described the Tibetan legend passed down to generation after generation, of how a great flood sent Tibetans to the West in boats in search of a new land.
This story ignited a childhood memory of how I had always seen the underlying similarities and unity between all races and had a great desire to share this with people.
I heard a voice in my mind, outside of myself saying ‘you’ll lead tours to sacred places,’ and something in me somehow just knew it was true.
It was 2002 and I was in the midst of a spiritual unfoldment that had begun with an awakening experience that spun me into a shaman’s journey to the inner self.
I was working as a Sales Executive running a successful sales company in London.
Stressed and deeply unfulfilled, my body was screaming out to me through tension headaches, illness and pain, to change directions and follow my true calling.
I embarked on my first semi-pilgrimage after attending a world sales conference in Hong Kong.
During a break I visited the Lantau Buddha, and sitting at the feet of this enormous several storey high buddha I just cried and cried.
Tibet was calling me but I couldn’t get there at that time, so instead I headed to Kathmandu.
I just loved the Tibetan stupas and the energy I felt in their vicinity.
I returned to England and by a beautiful act of grace, through a work mate, I met an incredible healer named Victoria.
I would travel 4 hours by train, each way, to see her each week.
She was a beacon to me in the strong times that would follow as I disengaged myself from my former life and lifestyle and underwent a deep healing journey.
On one of our meetings, she suggested I set myself a challenge, as I was feeling beyond despair.
I immediately knew it was to return to Kathmandu and climb to Everest Base Camp.
So there began my first real pilgrimage.
I experienced deep healing from Mother Earth on this journey and returned a few years later to climb it again.
After that several journeys to Tibet followed and a pilgrimage around sacred Mount Kailas where I had a remarkable healing in my spine where two vertebrae previously fused, were unfused.
I then started travelling to sacred places around the globe as I was guided, and journeys to Egypt, Peru, Mount Shasta, Uluru, KataTjuta, the Kimberleys and other places followed.
I formed Transformational Tours in 2005 after receiving continued guidance that this was my path.
I lead groups on pilgrimages to sacred sites all over the globe, with a focus on Tibet and the Buddhist Himalayas.
Perth, Western Australia is my home for now, with my partner and our two young daughters.
